Game of Thrones quotes often remind me of my favorite moments in the show. Whether they remind me of a great conversation between Varys and Littlefinger ("Chaos is a ladder"), how funny Tyrion can be ("I drink and I know things"), or Hodor… well, every scene with Hodor (“hodor!”). I am sure that most of the come from the books, or are inspired by the books, but seeing a character actually say it out loud, and seeing the situation they are in at that moment, that creates a greater impact on my mind. I must say that D. Benioff and D.B. Weiss did a great job in that sense. George R.R. Martin is a master character developer. When he lays down the foundation of a character, enriched with small details, and heavily influenced by past events in their lives, it is only natural that some drops of wisdom will naturally pour out of them and echo into eternity. Of course, among all those characters, everyone has their favorite. If we were all the same and good and fair, we would all love the same one character. But we are not the same. Thus, every character in the show has their own fans. Even Ramsey freaking BoltSnow! I may not be better, with my love for Lannisters, but I do not love them because they’re cruel, relentless, prone to incest, and all the rest you can pin them to. I love them because of their pragmatic outlook on the world. Because of their love for family. And because their wisdom is relevant today, probably even more than it is in the show itself! This is a collection of my favorite Game of Thrones quotes. They are mostly Lannister quotes, so it was natural to start the collection with their House words, both official and unofficial. "Hear Me Roar!" - House Lannister "Hear Me Roar!" - House Lannister I loved Tywin! The rest will probably end like him to (God save Tyrion!), most of the GoT characters end up that way eventually. "Valar morghulis. All men must die." Tywin did make one mistake in underestimating Tyrion and creating an enemy out of him, but for the most part of his life, he was a brilliant mastermind. His children took upon him, so they too have some witty sayings. "A lion does not concern himself with the opinion of sheep." - Tywin Lannister "A ruler who kills those devoted to her is not a ruler who inspires devotion." - Tyrion Lannister "By what right does the wolf judge the lion? By what right?" - Jaime Lannister "The gods have no mercy, that's why they're gods." - Cersei Lannister Let me know how you liked them in the comment section. If you like other characters, you can check out more GOT quotes at Game of Thrones Heroes blog.

Who would buy this? This is the fifth installment book in the novel series titled ‘A Song of ice and fire’. This makes A dance with Dragons perfect for anyone that has either read all preceding copies or plans to start. Fans of George R Martin will love A dance with Dragons since it is one of his bestsellers which attests to the quality of work done. Things I liked about A dance with Dragons One of the best things about A dance with Dragons is the general story line and setting. The setting is a magical world with very long seasonal cycles and shows kingdoms at the verge of collapse. You’ll get many opinions of the same thing though out A Dance with Dragons because of the unique narration style i.e. point of view narration by eighteen main characters. Also, since A dance with Dragons is set in a fictitious world, there is very detailed map that allows you to follow the story line as the narration moves from one continent and dynasty to another. This means that a very detailed and accurate mental picture will be formed as you read on. The storyline is so riveting that it makes A dance with Dragons an instant page turner. The story starts in the desolation present after a war. Queen Daenerys Targaryen of the eastern dynasty rules with the help of three dragons. Irregardless of her power, she has tens of thousands of enemies that are bent on her destruction. As these forces plan their assault, a lone warrior sets out to find the queen to an entirely different end. Towards the north, there as a character called Jon Snow who helps guard the wall of ice as stone from enemies. Being a powerful commander, he has equally powerful enemies, both within and without, that he must face. As the story in A dance with Dragons progresses, we see conflicts erupt from all corners is this world i.e. from the priesthood to the nobility to the peasants. The author has skillfully intertwined these conflicts and betrayals and lead them up to a crescendo that will leave you waiting eagerly for the next installment. Another thing that will tempt you to buy A dance with Dragons is that it is written by world renowned author George R R Martin. Reading this book will show you that his reputation is well deserved and thus will be money well spent. Things we did not like about A dance with Dragons One of the major qualms we had about A dance with Dragons is the size. It is over a thousand pages long meaning that the hard cover version can be quite hard to carry around. Fortunately, the rich story line will compel you to take it with you wherever you go.
Also, there are parts of the A dance with Dragons that get a little clunky and can therefore tempt you to jump over a few pages. Fortunately, these parts are few and far between. This will not happen to most people meaning that A dance with Dragons can have a hold on you from start to finish. You’ll not fully appreciate A dance with Dragons unless you have read all the preceding installments. Fortunately, these other books are easily available. You’ll also be able to read A dance with Dragons and easily combine it with preceding and subsequent installments below. Jason |
